Note About Broadheads:

In archery you have 2 main arrowhead types, your standard arrowheads called field tips and broadheads. A field tip is used when shooting on targets and sighting in your bow. Broadheads are the arrow heads used for hunting. You don’t use broadheads when sighting in your bow because they are expensive and wear down much quicker than field tips. This is because they have razor sharp blades and are pretty wide, ranging usually from 1-2 inches. This maximizes the impact area and makes sure of a quick takedown. There are two main types of broadheads, fixed blade and mechanical. Fixed blade broadheads are exactly how they sound, their blades are in a fixed position and never move. Mechanical on the other hand starts off with its blades retracted but then they expand upon impact. A few tips about broadheads and field tips are that when purchasing broadheads you want to make sure that the broadheads are the same grain as the field tips. The grain is the weight of the arrowhead and if your bow is sighted in for a 100 grain field tip and you get a 120 grain broadhead you will miss your shots. The last tip that I have is that when you purchase broadheads, before you go hunting, you should shoot one of them on a target to see if it is accurate. Better to find out on a target than an animal.
